Force Motors has unveiled the BS6 Gurkha SUV at Auto Expo 2020. India’s most capable domestic off-roader gets an emissions-compliant 90PS and 280Nm engine, updated front and rear mask, with government-mandated safety features. The Gurkha showcased was the three-door variant but we are hoping for similar styling to follow in the five-door variant as well.
In the looks department, the updates to the Gurkha are subtle. New bumpers, a revised grille, and headlamps with halo LED DRLs spruce up the old-school aesthetic. At the rear, the Gurkha gets revised tail lamps and a redesigned bumper.
Gurkha was available with 2.2-litre and 2.6-litre BS4 engines in their past and only the 2.6-litre engine receives the BS6 update. It is will deliver 90PS of power and 280Nm of torque and could be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The BS6 Gurkha is lodged with driver and passenger airbags, ABS, and rear parking sensors.
For off-roading, its 5-speed manual gearbox is paired with a low-range transfer case. The suspension has coil springs all-round and an independent setup in the front. At the rear, a rigid live axle is present.
Apart from that Force Motors also showcased the Gurkha customized, a hard-core off-roading machine. It has a wider stance, larger tyres, raised suspension, and a winch.
The 2020 Force Gurkha will give head to head competition to the new-gen Thar and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimmy.
